It’s human nature to be apprehensive about being left out. We want to be in the know and be where the action is happening. We want to be included. If we say no to an opportunity, we fear we’ll miss out on something that could be of great benefit to us.
For example, I have a client that is a restaurant owner that has a live music venue. By incorporating Facebook Live feeds into his social media on evenings when the crowd is dancing, laughing, and having a great time, he is tapping into that feeling that you need to be there. People are compelled to attend because they fear they are missing out on a fabulous evening.
Tapping into basic human emotions of belonging is always a great way to engage them on social media. We want to buy brands that most people like. We want to go to restaurants that people say good things about. We want to use a photographer that one of our good friends has recommended to us, because they "like" them.
Once you understand that it's much more about psychology than it is about technology, you'll have the hard part behind you.
